There are 1,374 cases of the 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve, which spent 22 months in 40% new French oak. It exhibits classic notes of new saddle leather, unsmoked cigar tobacco, red and blackcurrants, and loamy soil undertones in a full-bodied, intense, opulent, fleshy style. 85% came from Sonoma County and 15% from Napa County. This beauty is on a fast evolutionary track, so drink it during its first 7-8 years of life.

Full red-ruby. Lively aromas of blackcurrant, minerals and licorice.  Densely packed and very dark in character; distinctly chewy but less pliant and pretty than the 2011 Reserve Claret, with blackberry fruit enlivened by a strong spice component.  This very full but youthfully backward wine finishes with building tannins that call for patience.  Like the Claret, this is a very successful mountain wine in 2011.

2011 Pride Mountain Vineyards, “Reserve,” 85% Sonoma County and 15% Napa County ($135) – Mediumdark ruby; attractive, forward, rich, ripe, spicy, cassis and black cherry fruit aroma with notes of dried herbs, pencil shavings, and vanilla; full body; forward, rich, plummy, textured, mouth-filling, red and black fruit flavors with firm acidity, a note of mocha, and nicely integrated oak; full tannin; lingering aftertaste. Approachable now, though deserves another five years of bottle aging. Very highly recommended. 14.4% alcohol; 1,374 cases; blended with 7% PV; released November 2014.
