1996 Pride Cabernet Sauvignon

1996 Pride Cabernet Sauvignon

Highly concentrated and deeply extracted, this wine is one for the ages. Ripe black fruits, judiciously complimented by notes of toasty oak offer a luxurious mouth feel. While “friendly” tannins make this wine enjoyable right out of the gate, it clearly promises to reward those with patience, many years of cellaring.

Big, brash, intensely fruity and squarely in the camp of rustic Cabernets, this juicy, highly concentrated, positively mouthfilling effort comes up long on ripe, blackberry fruitiness and effusive oak. It is more than a little rough and tannic on the latter palate just now, but any failings it may have are the failings of youth alone, and its riveting sense of fruity extract is guaranteed to carry it through a lengthy period of steady improvement. Buy a few and forget about them for eight to ten years.
